Always described as one of the world’s best places to live, work and play, Greater Vancouver, with its breathtaking scenery and impressive multicultural character, is facing some of its toughest decisions ever. From crime and homelessness, to transportation and workforce shortages, the Lower Mainland of British Columbia needs inspired leadership, now more than ever before.
Tackling tough issues is never easy, but shelving them, in the hope that they will solve themselves or simply disappear, is not an option. Neither is it useful to point fingers or shift blame or responsibility. The challenges facing our region belong to every one of us, regardless of political stripe, or neighbourhood.
At the same time, in less than 40 months, the world will be here to meet us in person and to hear our story. And, whether we like it or not, they will leave with an almost permanent impression of us and our part of British Columbia.
Leadership means stepping up to the plate — that’s why this year’s Greater Vancouver Leadership Summit is committed to highlighting some of our region’s biggest challenges and opportunities.
